The Holmen Vikings continued their strong spring campaign with a commanding 9–2 home victory over the Tomah Timberwolves on Tuesday night. Powered by solid pitching and timely hitting, the Vikings controlled the pace from the first inning and never looked back.
Senior pitcher Aaron Ploszay earned the win on the mound, tossing five strong innings while striking out nine and allowing only three hits and two earned runs. Jude Anderson closed out the final two frames, keeping the Timberwolves hitless while adding one strikeout.
Offensively, Holmen racked up 12 hits and showed excellent discipline at the plate. Joe Meeter led the charge with a 2-for-4 performance, scoring three runs and stealing two bases. Nolan Mashak had a perfect day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored, and two RBIs. Abe Henderson and Noah Oswald each contributed two RBIs of their own, both delivering key doubles in the middle innings to extend the Viking lead.
The Vikings opened the scoring with a run in the first, added two more in the second, and broke the game open with a four-run sixth inning. Holmen also showed off their speed, swiping seven bases as a team, including three from Alex Goryl.
Holmen’s defense backed up their pitchers with clean fielding, committing just one error on the night. The victory lifts the Vikings to a strong standing early in the season as they continue to build momentum.
Holmen (9 runs, 12 hits, 1 error) will look to carry their winning ways into their next matchup, while Tomah (2 runs, 4 hits, 1 error) will aim to regroup before their next contest.
