Holmen Vikings

The Holmen boys basketball team dropped a hard-fought non-conference contest to Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau 66-63 on Thursday evening. The Vikings held a narrow 32-29 advantage after the first half but were outscored 37-31 in the second half as the Red Hawks rallied for the victory.

Scoring Leaders

Jax Meyer (#5) paced the Vikings with 13 points, shooting an efficient 6-for-11 from the field including 6-for-9 inside the arc. Meyer also contributed 4 rebounds and 2 assists in the effort.

Jayden Bartels (#20) added 12 points on 4-for-9 shooting, including 2-for-5 from three-point range. Bartels was active on the boards with 3 rebounds and dished out 2 assists while adding 3 steals on the defensive end.

Alex Berget (#21) finished with 10 points despite a challenging shooting night, going 3-for-13 from the floor. Berget was perfect from the free-throw line at 3-for-3 and pulled down 3 rebounds.

Brody Wilber (#2) and Cohen Kendhammer (#12) each contributed 8 points. Wilber shot an impressive 75% from the field (3-for-4) including 2-for-3 from beyond the arc, while Kendhammer added 5 rebounds and went 3-for-6 from the charity stripe.

Boston Popp (#13) chipped in 6 points along with 4 rebounds and 3 assists, while Ayden Reister (#3) and Taj Hauser (#4) added 4 and 2 points respectively.

Team Statistics

As a team, Holmen shot 44% from the field (23-for-52), including 33% from three-point range (7-for-21) and 62% from the free-throw line (10-for-16). The Vikings pulled down 28 total rebounds (21 defensive, 7 offensive) and recorded 11 assists while committing 19 turnovers.

The Vikings will look to bounce back in their next outing as they continue their 2025-26 season.
