The Holmen Varsity Vikings exploded offensively in a dominant 15-1 victory over Sparta on Tuesday, ending the game in just five innings via the mercy rule.
Holmen set the tone early, putting up 4 runs in the first, 3 in the second, and continuing the pressure with a 3-run third and 5-run fourth. The Vikings tallied 15 hits, showcasing a balanced attack across the lineup. Taylor Everson launched a home run and totaled 5 bases, while Macy Kline added two doubles and two stolen bases, continuing her red-hot stretch at the plate. McKenna McHugh chipped in a triple, and Imani Toso collected four total bases, including a double.
On the mound, Gabi Stuhr was efficient and effective, throwing 83 pitches (51 strikes) while facing 22 batters and limiting Sparta to just one run on five hits.
Defensively, Holmen kept mistakes to a minimum with only two errors, while Sparta struggled with five defensive errors, which helped fuel Holmen’s offensive surge.
The Vikings’ combination of power, speed, and steady pitching overwhelmed Sparta and gave Holmen a strong boost heading into the next stretch of the season.
