The Holmen Vikings put on an offensive showcase Friday night, rushing for 376 yards and five touchdowns in a commanding 48-7 victory over Baraboo, improving their record to a perfect 7-0.
Quarterback Colin Williams led the charge with a monster performance, racking up 155 rushing yards on just eight carries and scoring two touchdowns, including a 78-yard scoring run. Running back AJ Alesch added 93 yards on three attempts with a long of 58 yards, while fullback Elijah Kane punched in two touchdowns on his way to 72 yards on four carries, highlighted by a 61-yard touchdown scamper.
The scoring came early and often for the Vikings. Williams opened the floodgates with his 78-yard touchdown run, followed by Kane’s 61-yard score to make it 14-0. After Baraboo returned a kickoff for a touchdown, the Vikings responded immediately when Jacob Faherty returned the ensuing kickoff to the house. Kane added his second touchdown on a six-yard run, Williams broke free for a 45-yard score, and Jackson Barth capped the first quarter with a four-yard touchdown plunge to give Holmen a commanding 42-7 lead after just one quarter.
Kicker Logan Degner added two field goals in the second quarter, both from 25 yards out, to extend the lead to the final margin of 48-7.
Holmen’s defense was equally impressive, limiting Baraboo to just 15 rushing yards on 18 attempts and forcing a crucial interception. The Thunder managed only 12 passing yards on the night and couldn’t establish any offensive rhythm against a swarming Vikings defense.
With the win, the Vikings remain undefeated at 7-0 and will look to continue their championship run when they host La Crosse Central on Friday, October 10. The dominant performance on both sides of the ball showcased Holmen’s explosive potential as they head into the heart of their schedule.
