The Myrhum Invitational at Arrowhead High School on May 10th was a chance for our athletes to compete against some of the best in the state. This meet has a high qualifying standard to even compete, so competing in it is a feat of itself. It was a day of exceptional achievements.
Lydia Lazarescu bested her school record, set a new meet record and the top time in the state in the 100m Dash. Additionally, she reset the school record and won the 200m Dash. Jakai Ayed had another strong day by winning both the 110m Hurdles and 300m Hurdles. The 300m Hurdle time was both a PR, 3rd fastest in school history, and the new Sophomore record.
Other notable girls accomplishments included 11 individual PRs, 8 All-Time Top 10 Performances, and 3 Class Records. Brenna Schmidt was top 6 in both shot put and discus, Alivia Wickstrom was 5th in the 300m Hurdles, Alexa Szak placed 4th in the high jump, and the 4×800 team placed 6th.
The boys earned 5 total PRs. Along with Jakai’s PR, Ryland Eickhoff and Jacob Simmons earned a new best in the 200m dash, Kyle Dreyer had a new long discus throw, and Braedin Grandt continued improving in the 300m hurdles.
Myhrum showed the Vikings have a team that competes with some of the very best in the state, and was a great barometer of our team strength for the post season!
