The MVC/Coulee Track Meet at West Salem on April 15th was a resounding success, marked by impressive depth across events! Both teams won the meet with the girls winning by nearly 70 points! In a thrilling finish, the boys 4×400 team delivered a clutch performance to win their relay and ultimately secure the overall meet victory.

The distance runners shined. Ruby Kinsman had a big race in the 800m run and ran a great leg in the 4x400m relay for the girls. Mason Moss ran a tough 800m to PR for the boys.

For the girls, the sprinters took charge, securing both first and second place in the 100m and 200m dashes. Lydia Lazarescu demonstrated incredible resilience, battling a cold to compete in three races and the long jump. Delilah Heacox showed true grit, pushing through two challenging races despite painful shins and still delivering excellent times. Ruby Kinsman and Naomi Wedan pushed each other to chase personal records in the 800m. An inexperienced 4×200 team ran exceptionally well to claim second place. Sabrina Lechnir displayed impressive endurance, doubling back from the 1600m to achieve a personal record in the 3200m. The 4×800 relay highlighted the team’s strong mid-distance depth, and the 4×400 relay provided a perfect ending to the meet with a commanding win.

Alex Berget made significant progress in the long jump, adding over a foot to his previous best in only his second competition. Peyton Peterson and Jaren Nygren both celebrated personal bests in the 200m and 100m dashes, respectively. Jakai Ayed clocked the second-fastest 100m on the team, earning him first place in the event. Ryland Eickhoff dominated the 200m dash. Matt Hoff continued his strong season, winning the 1600m and setting yet another personal record. The team’s distance program showed its strength with five athletes achieving personal bests. Braedin Grandt had another strong showing, earning a personal record in the 300m hurdles. The boys’ teams swept all the relays, showcasing their speed and teamwork.

This was the first outdoor meet against many of our conference competitors, and it was a resounding success. The Vikings are excited for what is next on the season as we chase the MVC conference title.
