Lightning Lacrosse Recap – Woodside Athletic Complex, Wisconsin Dells, WI

It was a cool and cloudy day for lacrosse as the Lightning Lacrosse team took on two opponents at the Woodside Athletic Complex: the Oregon Panthers and Brookfield High School.


Game 1: Lightning vs. Oregon Panthers

The Lightning opened the day against a tough Oregon Panthers squad. The Panthers struck first, but the Lightning answered with several goals of their own in a back-and-forth first half. Oregon held a narrow 5–4 lead at the break.

In the third quarter, the Panthers extended their lead with four goals, going up 9–6 heading into the final period. The Lightning battled back, scoring the only goal of the fourth quarter, but ultimately fell short in a hard-fought 9–7 loss.

Top Performers vs. Oregon:

  • Grayson Veum (Central): 4 goals, 2 assists
  • Charlie Seehafer (Central): 2 goals, 1 assist
  • Jax Hendrickson (Luther): 1 goal

The loss drops the Lightning to 2–4 on the season, while Oregon improves to 4–5.


Game 2: Lightning vs. Brookfield High School

In their second game of the day, the Lightning faced Brookfield High School (0–5) and came out firing. They ended the first quarter up 3–1 and extended the lead to 7–2 by halftime. The Lightning maintained control throughout the second half, cruising to a 12–4 victory.

Top Performers vs. Brookfield:

  • Shawn McKane (Onalaska): 4 goals, 1 assist
  • Jax Hendrickson (Luther): 3 goals, 1 assist
  • Grayson Veum (Central): 2 goals, 2 assists
  • Charlie Seehafer (Central): 2 goals, 1 assist

The Lightning improve to 3–4 on the season, while Brookfield falls to 0–6.

The Lightning return to action on Saturday, May 10, with two games at Elkhorn Area High School:

About Lightning Lacrosse

Lightning Lacrosse is a varsity-level, WIAA-sanctioned seven-school co-op program hosted by La Crosse Central. The team includes student-athletes from:

  • Onalaska
  • Holmen
  • Onalaska Luther
  • West Salem

The Lightning are competing as an independent team in 2025 and will join the Badger Conference in 2026.
