Holmen Vikings

Game Recap – 5/17/25: Marshfield at Holmen

Holmen came up just one run short in a tightly contested matchup with Marshfield on Saturday, falling 6-5 in a game that saw lead changes, timely hitting, and a late-inning push by the Vikings.

Marshfield jumped out early with two runs in each of the first two innings, led by RBI hits from Chase Robinson and Mason Anderson. Owen Griesbach provided the big swing with a solo home run in the fourth, giving the Tigers a 5-2 lead midway through the game.

Holmen refused to go quietly. After chipping away in the third and fourth innings, the Vikings tied it at 5-5 in the sixth, fueled by an RBI double from Noah Oswald and a sacrifice fly by Braeden Linse. Jude Anderson, who doubled and scored twice, helped pace the Holmen offense alongside Abe Henderson and Kekoa Rodgers, both of whom also drove in runs.

However, Marshfield answered quickly. In the top of the seventh, Tyler Kremer’s clutch two-out RBI single pushed the Tigers ahead 6-5. Kremer then returned to the mound to close out the game, pitching a clean seventh to earn the win in relief.

Holmen starter Alex Goryl took the loss, surrendering six earned runs over six innings, while Colton Wucki provided a scoreless seventh in relief.

Despite the loss, Holmen showed grit with a balanced offensive effort — collecting seven hits, including five extra-base knocks. Defensive errors and early pitching trouble ultimately proved costly in a game where every run counted.

The Vikings will look to bounce back as they head into the final week, while Marshfield improves their record with a hard-fought road win.
