The Holmen Varsity Vikings rallied late to defeat La Crosse Logan 9-6 on Thursday, overcoming an early 5-run deficit with a five-run explosion in the sixth inning.

La Crosse Logan struck early, plating five runs in the first and adding one more in the fourth to take a 6-4 lead. Holmen, however, chipped away with runs in the first, second, and fourth innings before breaking through in the sixth to seize control of the game.

Kaitlyn Weiss and Kaylee Mosser each doubled, while Macy Kline ripped a triple, helping power Holmen’s offense. Kline and Weiss both tallied four total bases, and Nunemacher, Mosser, and Ziegler added timely hits to round out a balanced attack.

On the base paths, Holmen applied relentless pressure, tallying nine stolen bases, including three from Kline and two each from Nunemacher, Everson, and McHugh.

Despite committing four errors, Holmen’s pitching held strong. Gabi Stuhr threw 126 pitches, striking out multiple batters and facing 33 hitters. Abby Hoffman closed the door, pitching to six batters and helping secure the win.

The Vikings’ resilience and timely hitting turned the tide in a back-and-forth contest, marking a gritty comeback win in front of the home crowd.
