The Holmen Vikings had an outstanding Knights of Columbus Relays meet at UW-La Crosse. For at least the 3rd consecutive year, the girls team were meet champions while the boys won the team title by over 60 points!
Naomi Wedan led the girls with a PR in the 1600, a solid 800m time, and ran a 1:02 split in the 4×400. Ryand Eickhoff provided the boys 32 points through his performances. He won the 100, 200, with a PR in the latter. Additionally, he was the anchor of the 4x100m relay team that recorded the 10th best time in school history and put in a 7th place finish in the long jump.
It was a big day for girls distance runners with the top 3 in the 1600 by Sabrina Lechnir, Ruby Kinsman, and Naomi Wedan. 1st and 3rd in the 3200 went to Sabrina Lechnir and Ruby Kinsman, and the 4×400 team placed 2nd. Additionally, distance runners had 5 PRs collectively. Brenna Schmidt scored big points with a 1st in the Shot Put and a 2nd in the Discus. Alivia Wickstrom PRd in the both hurdle races that put her in top 8 all time for both races, and Alexa Szak cleared 5-02 for the first time in High Jump.
The boys came home with first-place finishes in the 100m, 110m hurdles, 200m, 400m, 4x100m relay, and 4x200m relay, along with a top 3 finish in the 300m hurdles. Multiple school records went down. Jakai Ayed set a new school record in the 110m Hurdles, and Matthew Hoff broke the school record in the 1600m Run. Jack Barth recorded the 3rd best Triple Jump in school history as well. Peyton Peterson placed 3rd in both the 100 and 200 while contributing to the 4x100m relay. Braedin Grandt PRd in both hurdle races, Grant Bires cleared 10-06 in Pole Vault, and Spencer Lowman and Hudson Moss PRd in the 3200m Run. To finish off the strong day, Dane Mueller won the Pole Vault and Kyle Dreyer placed 2nd in Discus.
This meet was a representation of the strength of Holmen for both boys and girls. We are excited to keep getting better and taking on the rest of the year!
