The Holmen Varsity Vikings used a powerful offensive surge in the middle innings to pull away from La Crosse Logan and secure an 8-2 victory.

Holmen got on the board in the 2nd with a pair of singles and a sacrifice before Josie Happel’s RBI knock gave them a 1-0 lead. La Crosse Logan answered in the 3rd with a trio of hits, including RBI singles from Streeck and Bacon, briefly pulling ahead 2-1.

However, Holmen exploded in the 6th, stringing together five straight hits, including a two-run single from Josie Happel, and capitalizing on a costly error in left field. They put up 5 runs in the inning to take a commanding 7-2 lead. Happel stayed hot in the 7th, adding an RBI double to finish with three hits and three RBIs on the day.

La Crosse Logan’s offense was stifled late, managing just one baserunner over the final two innings. Center fielder McKenna McHugh led Holmen’s defense with multiple catches, including all three outs in the bottom of the 7th.

Pitcher Gabi Stuhr earned the win, striking out multiple batters and working through jams with timely outs. The Vikings’ combination of steady pitching, clutch hitting, and defensive execution proved too much for the Rangers in this one.
