Holmen, WI – April 21, 2025 — Holmen came out swinging on Monday evening and held on for a 6-4 victory over Central, powered by timely hitting and solid pitching from starter Paul Goryl and closer Tyler Rosenow.
Holmen jumped out early, plating two runs in both the first and second innings to take a 4-2 lead. Central had scratched across single runs in the first and second innings themselves, but couldn’t keep pace as Holmen added two more in the fifth to extend the lead to 6-2.
Central mounted a comeback in the sixth, with Erik Ramseier blasting a home run to bring in two runs, tightening the score to 6-4. But Holmen’s Rosenow shut the door in the seventh to record the save, locking down the win.
Goryl (1-0) earned the win for Holmen, throwing six innings and allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out eleven. Rosenow notched the save with a clean seventh inning. Central’s Dawson Lapic (0-1) took the loss, surrendering six runs (five earned) over 4.2 innings.
Offensively, Holmen was paced by Abe Henderson, who went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer in the second inning. Brayden Wall added an RBI double in the fifth. Nolan Mashak reached base three times and added a single to boost Holmen’s OBP-heavy approach.
For Central, Jacob Larson had a strong night at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a run scored. Ramseier’s sixth-inning blast was the highlight, driving in two and briefly giving Central hope. Aiden Schulze and Jude Alvarado each collected a hit and a run scored.
On the mound, Lapic showed flashes with seven strikeouts but struggled with command, walking six. Reliever Liam Branson pitched 1.1 scoreless innings in relief.
Defensively, both teams had their miscues—each committing two errors—but Holmen’s tight pitching and early offense proved to be the difference. Despite leaving nine runners on base, Holmen managed enough run support to seal the win.
