Tuesday, April 22, 2025
Onalaska powered past the Holmen Varsity Vikings 13-3 on Tuesday afternoon, fueled by a steady offensive output and capitalizing on six costly Holmen errors.
Onalaska came out swinging, putting up runs in each of the first four innings and exploding for a 5-run sixth. Slugger S. Kraus led the attack with three doubles and six total bases, while teammates A. Larson and Q. Olson each added a double and multiple hits. Onalaska tallied 15 hits overall and stole two bases in the win.
Holmen’s offense came to life briefly in the 5th inning, plating three runs, but couldn’t recover from early deficits and missed opportunities. Macy Kline was a bright spot, collecting two doubles and four total bases, while Avalee Euler added another extra-base hit.
Pitchers on both sides were tested. Onalaska’s S. Kraus threw 131 pitches, facing 32 batters and limiting Holmen to seven hits. Holmen’s Gabi Stuhr battled through 153 pitches and faced 47 batters, but defensive miscues proved too much to overcome.
Holmen will aim to clean up its defense and bounce back after the tough loss, while Onalaska continues to roll with a balanced and aggressive offensive approach.
