Holmen vs DC Everest

Saturday, May 10, 2025

Holmen couldn’t maintain its momentum from the weekend as they ran into a red-hot DC Everest squad on Saturday afternoon, falling 13–4 in a game that saw the hosts strike early and often.

DC Everest jumped on Holmen starter Jude Anderson with a seven-run first inning, setting the tone from the outset. Nevin Poppy led the way for Everest with a triple, two hits, and four RBIs, while Cole Vanslyke contributed three hits and drove in three more. The home team tallied nine hits and drew nine walks, capitalizing on every opportunity Holmen gave them.

Holmen’s offense started strong, putting up three runs in the first inning behind RBI hits from Abe Henderson and Braeden Linse. Henderson finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Joe Meeter collected two hits, two runs, and a pair of stolen bases. Despite tallying 10 hits, Holmen struggled to string them together against Everest starter Jack Dvorak, who worked 5.2 innings and struck out five to earn the win.

The Vikings had solid performances at the plate, but their pitchers couldn’t contain a patient and aggressive Everest lineup. In total, Holmen’s pitchers allowed 12 earned runs, walked eight, and hit two batters.

The loss drops Holmen to 1–1 on their Saturday doubleheader after defeating Superior earlier in the day. They’ll look to regroup and tighten up on the mound as they prepare for the final stretch of the regular season.
