The Holmen Vikings used a big fifth inning to break open a tight game and secure a 10-3 road win over the Onalaska Hilltoppers on Wednesday night.
After trailing 1-0 early, Holmen erupted for eight runs in the fifth and sixth innings combined to seize control. Joe Meeter led the way offensively, going 2-for-4 with a double, triple, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Nolan Mashak delivered the knockout blow with a three-run double in the sixth to stretch the lead to 9-1.
Jude Anderson also had a strong day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Tyler Rosenow, Noah Oswald, and Brennon Metzler each chipped in RBIs as Holmen piled up 11 hits as a team.
On the mound, Paul Goryl earned the win, tossing five solid innings and striking out seven while allowing just three runs. Brayden Wall shut the door over the final two frames, retiring six of the seven batters he faced.
Onalaska struck first with a run in the opening inning and added two more in the sixth, but struggled to capitalize on opportunities, stranding eight runners on base. Carson Zinnecker went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Bradyn DeLong and Landon Stewart each contributed to the scoring.
Holmen improves to 14-6 (10-0) on the season, showing off both their depth and power with a well-rounded team effort.
