WIAA REGIONAL – SAUK PRAIRIE

May 27th witnessed an incredible display of talent and teamwork at the WIAA Regional Track Meet for Holmen track and field. The Vikings proved their dominance, securing back-to-back Regional Championships for the boys and an impressive third consecutive Regional Championship for the girls!

Hadley Johnson ran a great leg for the girls 4x100m relay to help them break the school record! She brings great energy to the team, and has been a great addition as a 9th grader. Tristan Brennan qualified for sectionals with a top 10 all time throw in the shot put. It was an incredible feat after overcoming a lot of adversity earlier in the season.

The girls’ team showcased exceptional depth and record-breaking performances. A staggering 17 athletes are moving on to Sectionals, a testament to their hard work and dedication. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the SCHOOL RECORD performance in the 4x100m Relay. Not to be outdone, the 4x800m Relay team delivered a phenomenal effort, achieving the 3rd ALL TIME fastest time for the school.

Individual brilliance shone through as well, with multiple athletes qualifying in more than one event, including Lydia Lazarescu, Abry Bloyer, Alivia Wickstrom, Sabrina Lechnir, Naomi Wedan, Ruby Kinsman, Delilah Heacock, and Brenna Schmidt. This remarkable showing marks their 3rd straight year as Regional Champions!

The boys’ team matched the girls’ success with their own Regional Championship, their second in a row. Fourteen different athletes have earned their spot at Sectionals, demonstrating the widespread talent across the roster. The boys’ sprint relays were a force by winning all 3  of them. Both the 4x100m and 4x200m relays clocked times that placed them among the Top 10 all-time in school history, showcasing their incredible speed and cohesion.

Individually, Jakai Ayed, Ryland Eickhoff, Matt Hoff, and Jack Barth each qualified for Sectionals in an impressive three events. A standout moment came from Jakai Ayed, who broke the 300m Hurdle School Record by .01, a truly remarkable achievement that underscores his dedication and talent.

Congratulations to all the athletes and coaches on an outstanding Regional performance!
