The Onalaska Open track meet on April 29th was another successful competition for Holmen track and field, marked by numerous personal records and outstanding individual performances.

Isabel Wang was a leader for the team by running a huge PR in the 800m and showed service by picking trash in the infield after her race. Eli Buchholtz had a big day by throwing a PR in both shot put and discus and broke 100 ft. in the discus for the first time.

The meet witnessed an impressive 60 individual PRs for the girls. An impressive 13 athletes recorded multiple personal bests and 3 athletes PRd in 3 events. Alivia Wickstrom won both hurdle races and Macy Keim placed 2nd in the 110m hurdles, Sabrina Lechnir and Naomi Wedan placed 1st and 2nd in the 800m run with Sabrina’s time being the 5th best all time and Naomi’s 400m time was the 10th best in school history. Kendall Kozlowski won the pole vault, and Brenna Schmidt won the shot put and placed 2nd in the discus with the 8th best throw in school history.

The boys also had a strong day with a total of 42 PRs achieved by 34 athletes, demonstrating the collective improvement across the team. Matthew Hoff delivered a standout performance by breaking the school record in the 3200m Run. Tay Parcher showcased versatility by PRing in the 100m Dash, tying his PR in the High Jump, and contributing a strong leg in the 4x400m relay. Caleb Domenget had a great day by breaking his Long Jump personal best by over a foot. Everett Tuma set new personal records in both the Long Jump and 100m Dash, while also contributing to a strong relay performance. Notably, all 18 athletes competing in the 100m Dash ran sub-14 seconds, with 13 of them achieving new personal records. Both the Shot Put and Discus events saw a high level of competition, with 5 athletes in each event setting new personal records.

The Onalaska Open was a testament to the athletes’ hard work, determination, and the supportive environment fostered by the coaches and teams. The meet provided a platform for athletes to excel, achieve personal goals, and set new benchmarks for future success.
